Top ANSI-Rated Puncture Resistant Gloves

Abolox carries ANSI-rated puncture-resistant gloves ranging from 1 to 5. The higher the number, the more resistant the material is to punctures. Workers working with sharp, pointed tools, such as chisels, knives, drills, and other tools, can reduce the risk of puncture injuries by wearing gloves with the proper ANSI rating for their jobs.

Workers working in several industries, including woodworking and oil and gas, are safer when using the ANSI-rated gloves we carry at Abolox. We carry only known brands that use quality materials.

Determining Puncture Resistance for Gloves

When ANSI tests gloves for puncture resistance, it uses a machine that holds the fabric between two plates. The machine puts pressure on the material until it punches through. It measures the resistance in Newtons, which are then converted to ANSI levels.

The five ANSI levels are as follows:

  • ANSI 1: Protects your hands from paper and cardboard cuts. They are good for light material handling and assembling parts.
  • ANSI 2: Protects your hands from punctures normally incurred while working light construction and packaging in addition to assembling parts and light material handling.
  • ANSI 3: Protects your hands from punctures usually incurred while working in construction and with light glass handling, light metal stamping jobs, and manufacturing positions.
  • ANSI 4: Protects your hands from injuries usually incurred while working in construction, metal stamping, recycling, glass handling, and injection molding.
  • ANSI 5: Protects your hand from injuries usually incurred while working in the oil and gas industry, mining, demolition, heavy-duty construction, metal fabrication, and manufacturing industry.

Many manufacturers combine puncture-resistance qualities with impact-resistance qualities. The ANSI ratings for impact range from 1 to 3, with 1 being the lowest protection. Impact resistance protection is for the back of your hands. Most manufacturers incorporate thermoplastic rubber in the back of the gloves. You would need impact-resistant gloves if you work with heavy machinery, in construction, handle cargo, or even work with wood.
