Driver Tools in the Shop and at Home
Everyone needs driver tools, whether for the home or shop. Extensions, universals and adapters help make hard-to-reach bolts easier to get to. Ratchet flex handles come in several sizes and drive spinners give you the speed you need for tightening and loosening those long bolts. Hex keys, nut drivers, screwdrivers and ratchets all make it easier to insert and remove bolts and screws.Whether you are in the shop or want to beef up your home tool collections, Abolox carries several brands of driver tools.
Driver Tool Quality
You often put a lot of pressure on driver tools, so they need to be sturdy and durable. Impact extensions that we carry at Abolox may be specially heat-treated for impact, feature a spring plunger for secure socket retention, and are suitable for use with electric and pneumatic impact wrenches.Impact universals must also stand up to the pressure you put on them. Many of the brands we carry are forged and machined for strength, precision heat-treated and tempered, so they don't crack or explode under pressure, and have an easy-to-read stamp pattern so you can easily see what size you are grabbing. The tools we carry meet or exceed industry standards.
Using Driver Tools
Driver tools are meant to be used for many applications, whether in the automotive industry, home construction, and road construction. They are handy to have for a home toolbox. If you have to change a hose on a car or need to reach a screw, bolt or nut in a tight spot in your home, the proper driver tools make it easier to get the job done.Combining extensions and universals will allow you to reach that nut inside the washer that you can just barely touch. Nut drivers are great for nuts and bolts in spaces that are too narrow for a wrench. Hex keys help you assemble and disassemble furniture, especially if the hex key you get with the furniture is a cheap one that breaks.
Features of Driver Tools
Driver tool features depend on the type of tool you are using. They may be hardened for strength or give you extra leverage and / or reach by attaching to another tool. Impact extensions and universals are usually hardened. Spinner handles allow you to attach a socket to get into tight places. An extension socket- and adapter socket might be chrome or hardened, and a screwdriver might be a Phillips or flathead. Every house and shop should have different sizes of driver tools. A nut driver has features similar to a screwdriver, but has an attachment for a socket instead.Depending on the type of tool, it might come in metric and SAE sizes, and might fit ½-inch, 1/8-inch and ¼-inch drives. Many of the tools we carry at Abolox are made in the USA.
